Cobbold Gorge Postcard.

I visited here in May 2022. I was moving from Rockhampton to Cairns, so I got to explore on the way. I had a mate join me, so I felt ok driving out to Cobbold. Not sure if I would have done it on my own in my little orange car. As it was, we missed the turn-off and drove 2 hours in the wrong direction. Creating memories, that's for sure. We drove inland from Townsville and out to Innisfail.

What caught my eye was the beauty of the landscape and the colour of the stone. We stayed at the holiday park and did the tour.  Going by boat along the water in the gorge, then walking above and crossing the glass-bottomed bridge. You could paddleboard the water, but I would have fallen off for sure, and there are crocs in there. But I decided to paint as if we had. Maybe the only way I would do it.

A truly amazing place if you ever get out there. People often ask me if it's worth going all that way. I always tell them, of course, it is.
